Dreamer, today we will show you 3 types of embroidery stabilizers you can use in your projects for the best results… continue reading to learn
We will start working by cutting the templates from our downloadable file.
Place the templates on the felt and fix them with the help of pins.
Now you must trace the outline of the pieces with the chalk.
Remove the paper pieces and cut along the outline you just marked.
For the next step, you will use the templates, marker, tape, and stabilizer.
Fix the template to a flat surface with the help of the tape.
Place the stabilizer on top of the template and tape it down to prevent it from moving.
Now trace the drawing on the template with the marker.
When you have finished tracing the drawings, place them on the felt and fix them with the wonder clips.
The design must be centered; hold it at least 4 points to prevent it from moving.
Place the bobbin with the thread color of the fabric.
Next, place the needle; the metallic needles are special for sewing with the metallic thread of the Gütermann brand that we will use.
For this project we will use the appliqué foot; it’s perfect because it has a wide space that will allow us to see perfectly the lines of our design.
On the machine we will use zig-zag stitch in stitch length F or one and stitch width one.
And now, let’s start to sew! Making this project will be like drawing with the machine.
To start sewing, place the beginning of one of the lines just below the needle.
Start sewing; remember to topstitch to prevent your design from unpicking.
Sew slowly along the line when you reach a corner in the design, remember to pivot.
Stop your machine, lower the needle and turn the fabric piece while the presser foot is raised.
Continue with this technique until you finish the design you traced.
Take care to stitch all the contour of your design and keep your machine at a low speed so you can stop at each corner without any problems.
When you have finished sewing the outside outline of your design, continue with the inside details
For these details, we will use Gütermann’s gold-tone metallic thread.
Continue sewing, and remember to topstitch at the beginning and end of each of the lines of your design.
Once you have finished sewing your design it’s time to place the button; remember to place it in the area marked with the x.
To attach it we still recommend using the Gütermann threads; they are super resistant and of excellent quality.
Place a 10 cm strip of elastic folded in half on the other end of the fabric.
Now remove the excess stabilizer from the pieces.
This task is very simple since the material is cut by the needle as it’s sewn.
To remove the remaining stabilizer we will use a little bit of water.
(When in contact with the water the stabilizer will start to dissolve and the remains inside the design will be dissolved).
In a few minutes the stabilizer will be completely gone.
Now let your pieces dry and they will be ready to use.
Place them in your cup and serve your favorite beverage.
There’s no time to lose! You can try this project for your holiday decorations. It’s super easy to do and will be a cute detail for your cups.
We hope this project will inspire you to create it! See you in another post! Bye for now.
