Once you have all the materials, let’s start to sew a perfect mitered corner!
The first thing you need to do is to fold 1/2″ on two of the edges of your fabric and iron.
(This is because we will do only one corner as an example).
Now fold again 3cm and mark by ironing the fold on both edges.
You will be able to see the fold marks on the fabric and guide yourself with them.
For this step you should fold the corner following the iron marks and pin just where the marks match and form a cross.
Fold the fabric in half (on the bias from corner to corner).
Then, place a pin as a guide near the iron mark, as shown in the image.
Now, set your sewing machine; remove the pin and sew the corner following the mark left by the iron.
Cut off the excess fabric and turn the corner to the right side.
Iron to flatten the seam and sew very close to the edge to hold all the edge.
That’s it, you have a perfect mitered corner.
Remember that this type of finish, is super recommended for patchwork and quilting projects… don’t doubt it more and start to use this technique for achieving the best results!
