Today, we made for you an ideal step-by-step for the fall season. We will guide you through sewing the pumpkin block as a patchwork project.
Prepare your sewing machine and take your time to start this lovely project!
Let’s to make a list with the materials you will need:
Set up your sewing machine with the 1/4″ presser foot; select the straight stitch with the needle aligned to the center.
This way, we will be able to sew our Pumpkin patchwork project.
Start with the block marked “Pumpkin” with the pieces marked “corners”.
Mark and cut pieces on the fabrics you previously selected.
Once ready, we will start with the block elaboration.
Join the fabrics facing right sides together, then fix them with pins.
Place the 4 pieces in the largest rectangle.
Mark on the 4 pieces a diagonal at 45º and sew with a straight stitch.
Once you are finished, remove the excess fabric:
Leave a 1/4″ allowance at each corner.
Using the finger presser, open the seams of the block corners.
This will help to obtain a flat finish.
Place the sides of the piece as shown in the picture.
Face the fabrics right sides together. Place them over the sides of the block.
Pin and sew 1/4″ from the edge using a straight stitch.
Repeat this procedure with the 2 pieces already pinned.
Sew slowly to make sure the seam is perfectly aligned. Then open and flatten seams.
Place the second piece marked “Side” on the other side of the “Stem” piece.
Join and align the edge of the pieces.
We recommend using this tool to help you save the time you would be spending with the iron.
Open the 2 resultant pieces.
Face each of the pieces right sides together.
Align the edge of the upper part.
Whenever you are finished, open the seams of the piece with a finger presser or an iron.
Now place a piece of fabric on the bottom and top of the piece named “base” in the pattern.
These pieces will face each other right sides together.
Next, place the piece marked “top”, aligning it with the top edge of the piece.
Sew aligning the edge of the fabric with the presser foot.
