Dreamer! Creating your own sleep eye mask is very easy; today, we will share the template and the step-by-step on how to achieve it.

First, prepare the materials you will need:

  • Cotton fabric
  • Soft to the touch fabric such as satin, velvet or microfiber
  • Tricot interfacing
  • 12” elastic
  • Polyester thread
  • Sewing machine needles
  • Sewing machine

Step 1:

First, print the template; just click the PDF button.

Then cut the sleep eye mask pieces:

  • 1 of cotton fabric, 1 of microfiber and 2 in interfacing.
  • Also, cut a 24” x 2 1/2” rectangle.

With your iron, fuse one interfacing piece on the back side of each fabric.

Step 2:

To start, fold the rectangle in half and sew with a straight stitch 1/4” from the edge, turn the piece right side out.

Cut a section of elastic 12” long and place it inside the strip of fabric you just sewed.

Step 3:

Fix on the right side of the mask the ends of the elastic, place it in the notches on the sides and fix them with pins.

Join the right sides of the pieces together, aligning the edges of both pieces and pin them.

Step 4:

Start sewing at point A, use a straight stitch of length 3, and finish off very well at the beginning, continue along the seam line until you reach point B and finish off at the end.

While you sew over the elastic, finish off the seam to reinforce that tension area.

If your fabric frays, sew a false overlock seam, zig-zag, or if you have an overlock machine, sew all the way around the mask and then cut off the excess fabric.

Step 5:

Now turn the piece over, through the opening you left in the middle, and check that there are no pockets or folds in the mask.

  • Mark the hem 1/4” inward on the piece and pin.

Step 6:

Finally, close with topstitching, all around the mask, using a straight stitch in length 3 with thread of the color of your choice.

And done!

You have a new sleep eye mask made by yourself.
